"Manual of Military Aviation": by Major Hollis Leroy Muller, United States Army. Published by The Collegiate Press, and Printed by George Banta Publishing Company, Menasha, Wisconsin, Copyright 1918. This book was prepared by Major Muller with the Coast Artillery Corps, a Junior Military Aviator, U.S. Army Chief Instructor for the Field Officer's Course in Aeronautics, Signal Corps School, 1916. He was the holder of Certificates as Expert Aviator, Airplane Pilot, and Free Balloon Pilot, International Aeronautic Federation. (Also the Author of "Elements of Training in Aviation".) Prepared for the use of Personnel of Aircraft Troops of the Army, National Guard and Reserve Corps; Officers of the Armies of the United States; Members of Military Training Camps; and Airmen in General. Used by the American Expeditionary Forces 1917-1919. First Edition, with original gilt-decorated cloth cover with wing design, 308 pages, illustrated with photos and drawings. Overall Very Solid Book, but does have some inside separation from the spine (that is easily repairable), and typical bumps and signs of age, the condition is very good. This is an Excellent reference for World War One Aviation collectors and researchers. (SOLD) Attributed USMC "Commendations of Second Division": American Expeditionary Forces 1917-1919. Excellent Unit Citation compilation, in 61 pages, printed in Germany in 1919 by the newly founded Second Division Association. Comes in the Original Mailing Envelope as sent from France, to what appears to be a girlfriend in June of 1919 by Pvt. William G. Baber, 20th Co., 3rd Bn., 5th Marines. Postmark shows 3rd Army of Occupation stamps. Baber enlisted in May of 1918, and saw service in France with the AEF, and into the Occupation of Germany. Aside from the typical bumps and slight signs of age, overall condition is Excellent. This is a nice solid copy of an important reference for World War One collectors and researchers. (SOLD) American Armies and Battlefields in Europe: American Battle Monuments Commission 1938 . Excellent photos, charts, and maps throughout, in 547 pages with three (3) large format pull out battle maps in end cover pocket. Aside from the typical corner bumps and slight end of spine wear, this is a nice solid copy of this critical reference for World War One collectors and researchers. ($45) 79th Division Summary of Operations in the World War: American Battle Monuments Commission 1944 . Excellent text, charts, and maps throughout, in 46 pages with two (2) large format pull out battle maps in front cover pocket. Ex-Library Copy with only typical corner bumps and slight end of spine wear, this is a nice solid copy of this critical reference for World War One collectors and researchers. ($45) The Price of Our Heritage: Compiled and published in 1919 by Winfred E. Robb, DSC (Regimental Chaplain 168th Infantry). This is an outstanding photo record of all the KIA, DOW, and DOD members of the 168th Infantry, 42nd (Rainbow) Division, AEF. 415+ pages, in good condition with typical wear, but solid binding. This is a must have unit reference for the most active U.S. Infantry Combat Regiment in World War I. Photos and brief biographies on each of the dead from this regiment, including details of death. condition is very good and sound. Some
corner bumps, and light edge chipping, but binding is Original and solid, with
all text clean and legible with typical signs of age and use. Third Division Unit History for WWI: "History of the Third Division United States Army in the World War for the period December 1, 1917 to January 1, 1919". Printed in Germany in Feb. 1919. Excellent text, charts, and officer rosters, in 397 pages. Binding is intact, but a touch brittle. Covers have some water staining, but all text is clear and intact, making this a perfect research copy for this active division. (Does Not include the small folding maps originally inside the back cover.) Another critical reference for World War One 3rd Division AEF collectors and researchers. ($30)
RARE POW/Aviation Art Publication "Not As Briefed" by C. Ross Greening: An outstanding compilation of Second World War wartime illustrations done by Col. C. Ross Greening, and published shortly afterwards by Brown & Bigelow. Colonel Charles R. Greening was an accomplished U.S. Army Air Forces combat pilot that flew on the Doolittle Raid, with a significant participation, flew AAF B-25's & B-26's over Africa and Italy, getting shot down over Italy, evading capture over a cold winter, and eventually being interred for nearly 18 months in a German prison camp. He became a group C.O. in Officer's Camp Stalag Luft One until the liberation at war's end. This high quality spiral bound album contains over 50 full color paintings (all of which were done during the war...) of fighting scenes showing the intensity and realities of aerial combat and life under Prisoner of War conditions. Each Plate has a detailed text description of the illustration, and the art is truly magnificent. This is a Limited Edition Publication, and appears to be individually signed by the artist. (13-1/2" by 10-1/2" Format) Excellent Original condition, with only minor signs of age. All images are crisp and clear. Printed in Germany in 1945, with nice pull out map of battle progress, major actions, and citations. Has slight binding issues, but overall solid condition with dust jacket. ($45) History of the 363rd Infantry: One Regiment of the 91st Division in World War II. A great unit history for an active combat unit in Italy and the ETO. Complied by Capt. Ralph E. Strootman, and Printed in 1947, by Infantry Journal, Inc. Excellent reference with extensive rosters, decoration lists, unit citations, Honor Roll, photos and maps. 354 pages, with solid binding, clean clear text, with some typical cover wear. ($45) Regiment of the Century: "The Story of the 397th Infantry Regiment" in World War II. A great unit history for an active combat unit in the ETO. Complied and Printed in Germany 1945. Excellent reference with extensive and beautifully illustrated decoration lists, unit citations, photos and maps. 314 pages, with solid clean binding, clean clear text, and very minor corner bumps. USAF Historical Division, Air University, Department of the Air Force. This unique reference work contains the histories and emblems of the 1,226 USAF Combat Squadrons that saw action in WW II -- specifically, between December 7, 1941 and September 2, 1945. It was prepared by the Air Force Historical Division in 1969. All text clean and clear with 841 pages, and binding loose but solid. A must have reference for the WWII US Aviation collector. Vietnam Order of Battle: A highly sought after, Out of Print, Book on the Vietnam War.
